Jazzy Fryday

Griffith Hall at Second Baptist Church, 2412 Griffith Avenue , Los Angeles, CA 90011

Jazzy Fryday returns to celebrate jazz appreciation month! The guest host for the evening will be the Dolo Coker Jazz Scholarship Foundation, featuring their scholarship recipients. We invite you to an evening of live jazz performed by those recipients and the legendary Donald Dean, Sr., former drummer of Les McCann. He will be backing his granddaughter, Darryn Dean, who is one of the scholarship recipients. All this will be paired with a delicious fish dinner and beverages!

The Charles Dolo Coker Jazz Scholarship Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, named for jazz pianist/arranger/ composer/piano teacher/vocal coach/recording artist Dolo Coker, was founded in his memory on Wednesday, April 13, 1983, the date on which he succumbed to cancer. The mission of the foundation is to assist talented, young jazz musicians with their musical studies and to perpetuate jazz. America’s only indigenous art form. All scholarship recipients are from the ages of 15-25.

Fish takeout will be available for $10 at the door.
